LIVE POETRY MUSIC JAM is recorded live at the famed Mercury Cafe in Denver where spoken-word, poetry and music come together in lyrical word patterns, woven into improvised fields of sonic mastery! We launched on your favorite podcast app on Sunday, April 16th, 2023 - in honor of April's National Poetry Month! Blue Pearl Production is launching this podcast series with funding from Denver Arts & Venues Music Advancement Fund, the support of the Mercury Cafe, as well as all the poetry creators, spoken-word artists, and musicians that performed on this inaugural podcast Episodes 1 - in 2 parts - Titled: A SPECIAL TRIBUTE TO MARILYN MEGENITY, Featuring the Jam B4 The Jam and the Poetry Slam spoken-word artists. This 1st Episode consists of Pt. 1 & Pt. 2 is a Special Tribute to MARILYN MEGENITY, Founder of the Mercury Cafe, featuring the Founding Poets of the 22-year running Sunday night poetry events: JAM B4 THE SLAM and the POETRY SLAM - including PoetSeth, Roseanna Frechette, and Ted Vaca. They are joined by many of the Denver-based Spoken-Word Artists and Musicians who on this podcast, powerfully represent the vast creative, artistic poetry, and music communities of Denver-Boulder and greater Colorado. The music is created by the ART COMPOST & WORD MECHANICS BAND, an improvisational musical group which has included countless Denver musicians and guests who have sat in on the Jam B4 The Slam poetry and music jam sessions over many years. Each podcast episode features a changing cast from the JAM B4 THE SLAM, POETRY SLAM, LIGHTHOUSE WRITERS POETRY COLLECTIVE, and many other local Colorado poetry groups, with podcast performances to date by more than 50 local artists performing on these live poetry, spoken word and musically improvised jam podcast sessions.
