In this episode I had the pleasure of talking the the incredible Christina Schmidt!
Christina Schmidt (she/her/hers) is an AuDHD, multiply-dialectal, and multicultural Black woman. She lives, works, plays, and creates on the unceded lands of Wurundjeri Country in Naarm (Melbourne, Victoria, Australia). Born in the US, Christina has spent the majority of her adult life overseas in Austria and now Australia. She works with paediatric and adult clients, specialising in about neuroaffirming practice, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), gestalt language processing, and a bit of orofacial myofunctional therapy and feeding support. Social justice advocacy is deeply intertwined in her work due to her strong justice sensitivity. Christina is deeply passionate about helping people discover and embrace their unique strengths, sharing them with the world in the ways and at the times they feel ready.
In this chat we dive into the dinamic duo that is OT and speech therapy and how we can work together to ensure the best outcomes for our clients and how it is essential for us both to be addressing the relationship between regulation and communication.
