111: Functional Police Fitness Programming w/ Kurt Weinreich

Kurt Weinreich has been a fitness professional in Colorado for over 25 years and utilizes his experience in the industry as a trainer, manager, and educator as a former senior instructor at the National Personal Training Institute. Kurt was awarded the Academic Achievement Award from the International Sports and Sciences Association and was chosen to be Fitness Ambassador to work the High-Performance Training Center during the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Locally, he was a radio co-host for "Fitness Fridays" show on KBPI and appointed twice to the Colorado Governor's Council on Active and Healthy Lifestyles.
Kurt is currently contributing to the first responder community as a multi-certified Tactical Conditioning Specialist for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. As the Wellness Unit Manager, he oversees the nutritional coaching, occupational training assessments, functional conditioning programs and post-rehabilitative recovery through the onsite Wellness Unit. He is a member of the IACP Wellness Collaborative to help further the research for law enforcement specific physical fitness program implementation strategies.
Kurt is also a retired competitive martial artist training in several traditional Japanese and Filipino styles while competing with the U.S. National Stickfighting Team to earn medals at two World Championships. As with his fitness profession, Kurt transitioned to teaching self-defense with specializations in defensive tactics including Krav Maga, weapons defense, and law enforcement training.
