In this episode, we talk about health care for the homeless. How can this organization deliver person-centered, interdisciplinary care to some of Baltimore's most vulnerable people, and what can we learn from them?
Health Care for the Homeless - Maryland
About Our Guests:
Amelia Jackson, MSN, CRNP, FNP-BC is a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over 7 years of experience, working for the past 5 years at Health Care for the Homeless, a Federally Qualified Healthcare Center (FQHC), caring for some of the most vulnerable individuals in our society. Ms. Jackson is a 2008 graduate of the University of Louisville with her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and a 2013 graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing where she received her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) focus. Prior to becoming an FNP, Ms. Jackson worked as an emergency department nurse for 5 years. The driving force behind Ms. Jackson and her work is that high quality, equitable, culturally informed healthcare should not be a privilege enjoyed by some, but a right enjoyed by everyone.
Lilian Amaya works as Coordinator of Community Health & Outreach at Health Care for the Homeless. She brings 15 years of experience serving individuals at the intersection of human services and health care. Lilian is the daughter of Salvadorian immigrants and identifies as a queer Latinx woman.
