Dr. Isaac Prilleltensky is Professorof Psychology and Educational and Psychological Studies, Mautner Chair in Community Well-Being and Vice Provost for Institutional Culture at the University of Miami. But to become the man he is today he had to overcome many difficult and dangerous challenges. In this podcast you will hear his story. Dr. Isaac was born in Córdoba Argentina. As a young boy, aged 8th, he lost both his parent in a car accident. His aunt raised him as her own. They didn’t have a lot of money, but that was compensated by a lot of love and affection. Argentina was ruled by a dictator and anti-semitism was common. Being Jewish himself, Isaac joint an anti-regime political party. This was very dangerous because the militairy was ruthless against opponents of the regime. Because of this he lost friends who were very dear to him.This was one of the reasons that he became interested in fairness and wellness. Isaac explains that society not always accepts you as you are and sometimes forces you to give up your identity. This has a negative effect on your self-esteem. People want to matter. Mattering means being who you are and contributing to society. Help yourself by helping others!
