This episode is brought to you by "Practical Prepping For Everyday People - A Common Sense Guide On Preparing For Life's Emergencies " Available on Amazon and wherever books are sold.

In Episode # 52 "Back To Basics, Getting Started Prepping, And A Few Reminders For The Rest Of Us"

Maybe 2020 convinced you that you need to be prepared for future events. Maybe you are new to preparedness and it all seems a bit overwhelming. Relax. We can help.

In this episode, we get back to basics, getting started in preparedness. There's also some reminders for the rest of us.

If you haven't already, just get started!

One of the most important things every prepper, every person, should have is a NOAA weather radio, with alerts, to wake you during weather emergencies. You also need multiple smoke detectors and fire extinguishers on each level of your residence.

We begin with WATER STORAGE, one of the most important, often overlooked, items to store. We discuss amounts to store and ways to store.

We cover getting started and building FOOD STORAGE. It's not as hard as some make it, and what you need, to begin, is available in your grocery store.

Then we talk about layering your food storage items. Layering involves storing canned foods you will use, then dry goods in mylar bags for longer storage, and finally adding long-term storage, freeze dried foods. (We personally do not currently store freeze dried foods, but we are currently exploring that avenue).

Just get started. That is the most important aspect of preparedness. A journey of a thousand miles begins with the first step. Take that step today!
If you are just starting out, get our book, Practical Prepping For Everyday People - A Common Sense Guide On Preparing For Life's Emergencies ." It will help you get off to a good start, and covers most topics for the beginning preppers.

We recommend listening to episode #20, "Planning Your Preps" to help you get started with a good plan, which helps in your prepping journey.
