Episode 7: Batman, Ms Marvel, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Brave New World, Arrow, The Boys and more
Manage episode 274236426 series 2772903
Where does he get those wonderful toys? We take the Batmobile back to 1989 to reminisce on Tim Burton’s Batman. And we’re joined on the journey by screenwriter, author, journalist and nerd celebrity Bonnie Burton. Welcome to the latest episode of Robby The Robot’s Waiting: The Sci-Fi Podcast!
As more big movies get put back to 2021, we wonder if there’ll still be any cinemas for them to come back to. Now that Cineworld has shut its doors and films like Bond, Dune, Black Widow and more have vanished into next year, we ask what this means for the future of going to the pictures.
Elsewhere, we review The Walking Dead: World Beyond, Brave New World, and the final season of Arrow, and look ahead to hot superhero news including spin-offs from The Boys and Suicide Squad, new Marvel TV in the form of Ms Marvel and Nick Fury, and Jamie Foxx reprising his role as Electro.
And there’s all this plus Cimmerian personal hygiene in at least two utopias, and corduroy vs zombies, in Robby The Robot’s Waiting, the podcast that dances with the devil in the pale moonlight.
Episode highlights:
0:00:50 – What we’ve been watching: Devil, Arrow, Brave New World and The Walking Dead: World Beyond
0:15:46 – Covid-19 has broken cinema! What happens next?
0:35:25 – Our regular Rewind section: it’s hard to believe today that 1989’s Batman was meant to be a dark take on the Caped Crusader. We look back and ask if these are the best Bruce Wayne and Joker incarnations ever?
0:56:50 – News! Spin-offs for The Boys and The Suicide Squad, Marvel finds its Ms Marvel, Conan gets sweaty and Pegg and Frost bring the X-Files to the UK.
