On today’s episode, Jason kicks things off with a few thoughts on the highly-anticipated showdown between Tom Brady’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Bill Belichick’s New England Patriots. As we predicted last week, this one absolutely did not live up to the hype. It was sloppy and uneventful for most of the night, save for a questionable field goal try by Belichick late that ultimately cost the Patriots the chance at a victory. Producer Rob G thinks Belichick’s ego may have gotten the best of him in the moment, but we’ll never know for sure. Later, Jason explains why Kyler Murray has to be considered the NFL MVP frontrunner at the quarter pole of the season after he powered the Arizona Cardinals to a shellacking of the Rams in Los Angeles. In fact, you could even argue that the Cardinals are the best team in football at the moment. Speaking of mobile quarterbacks, have you noticed that Lamar Jackson is suddenly winning games from the pocket? The Baltimore Ravens have won 3 in a row, and should be able to keep the momentum going in Week 5 against the Colts. On the flip side, Ben Roethlisberger and Jimmy Garoppolo both appear to be on their last legs in their respective towns. Big Ben is clearly washed, and Jimmy G is hurt again. The only positive you can take from this is at least the San Francisco 49ers have a succession plan in place. Finally, Jason closes the show with a special Chargers-Raiders Monday Night Football edition of the Best Bet.
