What is our purpose and mission? Here at the Notion Club, Moriah and Ethan have created a place to practice the art of conversation. Notion Club welcomes all dialogue - specifically, speech that explores ideas, advances awareness, and indulges in humor.
We believe that free speech is the antidote to bad speech. Ethan and Moriah see themselves as mere human beings in a vast and complicated world; individuals who are constantly becoming and growing. We consider open-mindedness as a means of growth.
We also believe in balance. Constructive criticism is vital to the discovery of truth. Intellectual conversation means we can put ideas to the test, without fear of personal judgment. Here at the Notion Club, we advocate sharing ideas, even if we don't know how that idea may play out. This is how we test ideas: through open discussion.
Laughter is vital to life. We can all too easily find ourselves bogged down by life's weighty matters. Its important to take time to remember that we can't take ourselves too seriously, and to be able to make jokes and just be a silly goose.
Because we're in a constant state of growth, we do not condemn people for sharing ideas, even if we disagree. Our favorite topics can be pretty complex. Often times, we don't even agree with ourselves! We're increasing our awareness, and hopefully learning. These are Notion Club's values. We invite you to join us in our journey for personal growth and education while we have some fun along the way. What's your notion?
