The Creative Capital Show - EP30 - Changing the culture of government and business with Liz Tanner
Manage episode 330442827 series 3225003
Do the areas of government and business have to be adversaries? It seems as if you live in the state of Rhode Island the answer is a resounding yes? But what if it didn't have to be that way? In fact what if a former business owner worked in government to make it easier to do business? And what if that person was your "know a guy" that could help you if you ever had an issue with regulations or paperwork? Well that person happens to be this episode's guest Director of the Dept. of Business Regulation Liz Tanner. Liz started out with her own law practice helping others open their own businesses, so she was familiar with the pains of working with local government. She decided if things were to change she would need to get involved, by becoming a part of government herself. In this episode Liz and I talk about business regulations in Rhode Island, the resources available to business owners, why now is the best time to start a business, the "I know a guy" history of doing business in RI, and the culture change within local government of seeing citizens as customers rather than adversaries. All of this so that government and business can work together to get things done.
