Welcome back to Season 4 (and 50th Episode) of the Record Report!
For this episode, we're heading south to North Carolina to review Little Brother's Sophmore album The Menstrual Show. At the time of this album's release, the group faced scrutiny for its polarizing concept, which references the offensive shows of the same name that were popular in the early 1900s.
Despite the controversy, the group managed to create arguably the best album in their catalog. Using a satirical television show to make fun of the state of mainstream hip hop at the time, while illustrating the true struggles of a rap artist.
Like they always do this time, Vance and Ahmad pick their Top 3 tracks, discuss The Menstrual Show's effects on Little Brother's commercial success, and how their music impacted Hip Hop's next generations to come.
