Ep. 35- How Saying Yes Turned into Co-Owning a Salon and Co-Creating Mane Label Hair Co with Misty Allmandinger
Manage episode 408959970 series 3564739
Has anyone ever come up to you with a business idea and asked if you’d help run it? If they did, would you do it? I live with an entrepreneur who has a new business idea every 5 minutes. If I said yes to all his ideas, who knows where we’d be right now, maybe a little in over our heads. But what happens when someone you respect comes to you with an idea to own a salon and then help create a new product that will completely transform the way women curl their hair? My guest on today’s episode had zero doubts that these two business ventures would fail. She gave a resounding yes to 2 separate opportunities without any experience in owning a company and dove straight in. Listen to episode 35 as I chat with Misty Allmandinger who co-created Violarosa Salon and Mane Label Hair Co.
If you’ve asked these questions before:
“Can I start a new business?”
“How do I start a new business?”
“Is it too late to start a business?”
“Can I find purpose in my career?”
THIS episode is for you!
Questions we discussed:
-There’s a type of artistry with cutting, coloring and styling hair, do you believe this was an innate skill of yours early on, or have you had to learn and grow and be challenged in your craft?
- What is the value and beauty of your role as a hairstylist? How do you fight against negative self talk (if any)?
-You decide to open up/co-create a salon in Scottsdale, AZ. How did this unfold?
-Why did you want to open your own salon as opposed to renting out a space or studio?
-From inception to first launch, how much time had passed after creating the Sway/Mane Label Hair Co?
-Who did you market to, how were you able to get your first customers?
-Your competitors have a very similar product, the end result is the same, heatless curls or waves, but the fabric and look in my opinion stands out among the others. In your opinion, what makes the sway a worthwhile product compared to others?
-Did age ever play a significant role in your decision to pursue or not pursue either of these businesses? If not, what factors positive or negative played significant roles in the creation of these businesses?
-If someone listening has an idea to create a product (any product), but is fearful to pursue it because of age or some other limiting fear, what would you advise them right now?
-If you could encourage 1 woman who feels limited to pursue a dream or goal based on her age or life circumstance (or has a limiting mindset that where she’s at is not enough), what would you tell her?
