Today’s Message|

Remembering Why We Are Here!

1. On October 24, 1993, West County Community Church began with

the vision: “We are surrendered to be a dynamic community of faith

which is endeavoring to impact the world by experiencing, living,

modeling, and communicating authentic faith in the Lord Jesus

Christ. Increasingly, our intention is to become fully: A worshipping,

caring and sharing community: exalting the Savior; a learning

community: equipping the saints; an influential community:

evangelizing the world.”

2. Being a dynamic community of faith comes from: 1) The conviction

that God’s Word is trustworthy to be the authority for our lives; 2) the

courage to trust and obey God’s Word instead of our circumstances

and feelings; and 3) the confidence we have a God who is sovereign

and sufficient in our lives Who by “His divine power has given us

everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of

Him who called us by His own glory and goodness” ( 2 Peter 1:3).

3. Being a dynamic community of faith comes from living in the power

of God’s love. “How great is the love the Father has lavished on us,

that we should be called children of God!” (1 John 3:1). “Perfect love

drives out fear” (1 John 4:18). “This is love for God: to obey His

commands. And His commands are not burdensome, for everyone

born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that has

overcome the world, even our faith” (1 John 5:3-4).

4. Being a dynamic community of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is not

the absence of great challenges. Dynamic faith in the Lord Jesus

Christ is having the addition of God’s presence, giving us His

preeminence, living with His perspective so we can obey His

promises, having His patience so we can stay faithful in His process

of becoming like Him, living out His position in our lives so we can

know His power, having His peace so we can remain faithful in

experiencing His purpose in our lives!

5. Being a dynamic community of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

understands the necessity of learning the discipline of surrendering

our lives daily to walk by faith in living the Spirit-filled life versus

letting our circumstances and feelings rule and ruin our lives. As our

attitudes are changed by God, we enjoy living servant-hearted lives

instead of selfish lives.

6. Being a dynamic community of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ changes

our attitude about everything: from being independent and

rebellious to being dependent and obedient to God in every

challenge of life. We continue to learn whatever we withhold from

God becomes the closed door to our tasting His goodness,

experiencing His faithfulness, and living out His purpose in our lives.

Being a dynamic community of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

understands we are to run the race of life with perseverance, fixing

our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith. We know

when God calls, there is no rest in quitting! We are devoted to the

Word of God, devoted to each other, devoted to sharing Christ’s life

together, and devoted to making disciples. We will by God’s

greatness, goodness, and grace in our lives, finish strong!

7. Being a dynamic community of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ

understands “We are not our own. We have been bought with the

price of Jesus Christ’s death on the cross” (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

Even when our expectations are not met, we know when God calls,

there is no rest in quitting! We will by God’s greatness, goodness, and

grace in our lives, remember our vision and finish strong!
