Whoever does good is from God; whoever does evil has not seen God.” —3 John 11 We are commanded to imitate good. “1 The elder to the beloved Gaius, whom I love in truth. 2 Beloved, I pray that all may go well with you and that you may be in good health, as it goes well with your soul. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when the brothers came and testified to your truth, as indeed you are walking in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth. Support and Opposition 5 Beloved, it is a faithful thing you do in all your efforts for these brothers, strangers as they are, 6 who testified to your love before the church. And his commandments are not burdensome. 4 For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God? —I John 5:1-5 We can be confident we belong to God. We can love others because God loved us first. We can have victory over evil. But you belong to God, my dear children. God told JOSHUA to not be afraid. “fear not, for I am with you;” - Isaiah 41:10 The angels told MARY to not be afraid. “And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary, for you have found favor with God.” - Luke 1:30 Jesus told his DISCIPLES to not be afraid. “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid..” - John 14:27 Ask: If I could do ANYTHING without FEAR, what would it be? “17 By this is love perfected with us, so that we may have confidence for the day of judgment, because as He is so also are we in this world. 18 There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.” - 1 John 4:17-18 There is NO FEAR of punishment in PERFECTED love. And why did he murder him? Because his own deeds were evil and his brother’s righteous. 13 Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you. 14 We know that we have passed out of death into life, because we love the brothers. Our top three priorities this year will be: 1. Leadership Development 2. Discipleship Process - Infant to Adult 3. Beginning Phase 1 Building Project Jesus tells them in Acts 1:4-5 “And while staying with them he ordered them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, he said, “you heard from me; 5 for John baptized with water, but you will be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” Accept the challenge to not depart.
