Manage episode 299749592 series 2307288
When you are preparing for an interview, there are certain standard questions which you have to encounter. It is always better to think through and keep your answers ready. There is a reason behind asking every question during an interview to candidates. When an interviewer asks a candidate “Why do you want to work for us?” all the interviewer wants to understand is how badly you are looking forward to the job. This question is the best opportunity for the candidate to showcase his fitment and excitement for the job he/she is applying for. The candidate should exhibit their knowledge about the organization and position applied for. It is important to know about the company and tailor your answers accordingly.
· Distinctiveness of the Company: Do your homework and try to find out what makes the company stand out among its competitors. Talk about how this company is exclusive in nature and how it can add value in the professional and personal lives of employees. This will make the interviewer feel that you are genuinely interested to be a part of the company for what it is, and you will fit into its culture.
· What you bring to the table: After you talk about your benefits from the company it is important to turn the tables. Talk about your skills and experiences that will bring value and expedite the growth of the company.
Here is the way you can go about doing your homework to frame an appropriate response:
· Go through the Website of the company thoroughly. Especially, the About us, Mission, and Vision section. The interviewer does not expect you to know about the history of the company. However, if you can name a few milestones or know about top management or talk about the new office location – it gives you an edge over other candidates. The interviewer gets a hint about your inclination towards understanding more and more about the company and your excitement to work together.
· Go through the Social Media channels. There are almost no brands under the sun that are not present on popular social media like LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Most companies make it a point to ensure their social media channels are up to date.
· Go through Employer Review web portals. There are numerous employer review websites like Glassdoor, Indeed, TheJobCrowd, and Vault where current and past employees write about their experiences in particular companies.
