Hashimoto's thyroiditis is a condition when your immune system cells attack your healthy thyroid gland cells, which then leads to you losing the ability to produce enough thyroid hormone. The thyroid hormone is the main regulator of your body's metabolism. Hypothyroidism causes many different symptoms, such as low energy, feeling cold all the time, constipation, loss of memory etc. Synthroid (levothyroxin) is one of the medications that is essentially a thyroid hormone replacement.
