She received training in Bharatanatyam from renowned mentors including Mahalingam Pillai, the Dhananjayans, and Adyar K Laxman.

Her artistic journey has traversed from practising the dance form in its traditional manifestations to redefining its conventions through thematic presentations that have amazed audiences worldwide. Her transformative contributions to Bharatanatyam have been so significant that critics liken her to Rukmini Devi Arundale, who revolutionized the art form in her own era. In essence, Savitha Sastry's story is a testament to her remarkable achievements and impact on the cultural landscape of Bharatanatyam that inspires us to follow our hearts in spite of the setbacks life may throw at us.
