In this episode of Faust in Wonderland, "Faust, Kafka, and Stuart Little Walk Into A Bar!" we take both a darker and lighter look at mental health. In "Greg's Changed" written by Fauster Joan Lopate, we revisit Kafka’s “Metamorphosis” where a family is thrown into crisis because, seemingly overnight, a member has become unrecognizable, alien to those who were once close to him. Gregor Samsa’s transformation is so bizarre that his family callously rejects and ultimately abandons him. In the Fausters' update to this story, the parallels between Kafka’s 19th century Czech family and a modern American one suggests that family dysfunction is not unique to place and time. With "Emotional Baggage" written by Faust member Celia Bressack, we meet Gabby and Phil, two lovelorn NYC daters who've had their hearts kicked around. They meet for coffee, and while sharing and comparing their neuroses, both are haunted by the voices of their exes. Will they learn to tune them out and find true love? Dial in to "Faust, Kafka, and Stuart Little Walk Into A Bar!" and see!
