"There's few places in the world, it's like Asbury Park, New Orleans, maybe Nashville, that you can walk into a place like the Stone Pony and have no idea what's going to happen." -Nick Corasaniti

Welcome Nick:

We’re joined on the Starline by a politics, voting and democracy reporter for the New York Times and home for the campaign food report. His book doesn’t have anything to do with any of the above but about the famous nightclub in New Jersey in “I Don’t Want to Go Home: The Oral History of The Stone Pony.” We welcome Nick Corasaniti.

Nick, let’s go Beyond the Mic. How did Asbury Park’s resurgence compare to the consistency of The Stone Pony after all these years?

What does the Stone Pony mean as a cornerstone of your life?

You’ve said in interviews you started going to the Stone Pony in the 90’s but you started college at Ithaca in 2004. What was the best punk rock show you saw at the Pony and what was the name on your fake id?

and it could have all disappeared if one of the bikers could have gotten a clean shot at the owner...

The Rockin' 8:

It’s time for the Rockin’ 8, 8 random questions, answer with the first thing that comes to your mind. There is no Pressure.

1. Most underrated Bruce Springsteen song of all time?

2. How long did it take you to write the book?

3. Best memory at the United Nations?

4. How many Red Lobster Cheddar Bay Biscuits have you had in one sitting?

5. Most underappreciated place to eat in Asbury Park?

6. Yes, No or Maybe: The NYC Congestion Pricing Program was doomed to fail from the beginning?

7. Which rock and roller needs to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next?

8. What’s the most shocking moment of your life?

Sneaking in One More:

What’s the one special memory that you will share with anyone who asks about The Stone Pony?

One Big Question:

How do you explain in less the 25 words the impact of The Stone Pony and those “Good Ghosts” to someone who has never been there before?

The Wrap:

He wrote the book in 4 years but lived the book his entire life. He thinks Warren Zevon needs into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame next and wants you to read “I Don’t Want to Go Home: The Oral History of The Stone Pony”, Nick Corasaniti, thanks for taking the time to talk with us today.

And that my friends is a Beyond the Mic Short Cut.
