On this episode, we are joined by Dr Inyang Takon, Consultant Paediatrician with expertise in Neurodevelopmental and Neurobehavioral Disorders.

It's always good to hear the perspective of a practicing medial professional who is also Black. We discuss:

- Why she chose to work in Paediatrics... she obviously doesn't agree with the saying 'never work with children' Lol!

- Practicing Paediatrics in Nigeria and in the UK

- Importance of cultural competence when working with Global Majority families when it comes to disability awareness and diagnosis. Walking with the journey with the family as she calls it, a Dr that gets it!

- The current challenge of waiting for years to get a diagnosis.

- Differences in how neurodevelopmental disorders presents in boys and girls.

- The pressure people with late diagnosis face.

- What parents should prepare for medical appointments & consultations.

- Why parents should pursue an assessment if they suspect their child may be different.
