September 13, 2024. Gospel Passage: Luke 6:39-42. Also quoting St. Josemaría Escrivá in "The Way" Point 602 and "Friends of God" Chapter Point 6 in escriva.org/en/camino/602 and escrivaworks.org/book/friends_of_god-chapter-6.htm. References: The Litany of Humility attributed to Cardinal Rafael Merry del Val (1865-1930) as seen in wikipedia.org/wiki/Litany_of_humility and The Litany of Social Media by Brendan Gotta in gottabesaints.com/post/litany-of-social-media. Meditation with Fr. Eric Nicolai, guest priest from Toronto on "In Your Presence" on Spotify. Image: "Artist in His Studio" by Rembrandt in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (Wikimedia Commons). Music: Recordações do passado (Souvenirs from the Past) a Valsa for piano (1885) by Ernesto Nazareth arranged by Bert Alink. Not monetized. Priest's Note: This image of our Lord shows the importance of self knowledge. And that can't go anywhere if we are not humble. St. Josemaría said that we might become very good in something, but if we lack humility, we're like building our temple on sand. Do I really know myself? My biggest defect. The gifts I have received? What area do I have to work on? What is your Achilles heel? Dominant defect. Something you’ve been struggling against. Perhaps today our self-knowledge is fragile or superficial, because we’ve become experts in presenting our best side in social media, in Instagram and Facebook.
