This week we welcome Robyn Grable, founder of Talents Ascend. Talents Ascend is an AI-powered talent sourcing website that matches job-seekers with employers, using skill profiles rather than traditional resumes. Starting with Veterans Ascend, Robyn set out to not only simplify the veteran hiring process, but also to improve the process of matching veterans with employers. She has since expanded this goal to disabled job-seekers, individuals with criminal records, and now the general public. Her inspiration for the company was born out of her own difficulty to find a job after retiring from her military career despite her impressive skillset. One of the problems with today’s hiring process is the requirement for resumes and direct task experience. Enter the Talents Ascend job match tool changing the face of hiring. This AI-Powered talent sourcing algorithm doesn’t require a resume to find jobs. It translates military and civilian occupations into a skillset that is marketed to the specific needs of employers using soft skills like loyalty, teamwork, and dedication. We discuss the challenges veteran, and military spouses, face when trying to find employment; with 37% of veterans underemployed or underpaid, a military spouse unemployment rate of 24%, and 66% of military families on government assistance because of spouse unemployment. Talents Ascend looks to change all of that, and help military and veteran families find not only a "job" but a career. So throw away that old resume that still has a paper route under work experience, and enjoy this week's interview.
