Black History And My Family's Contribution During The Civil War
My ancestor, Rev. William Gaines, a freed slave who, in Savannah, Georgia, on January 12, 1865, sat with other black leaders in conversation with General William Tecumseh Sherman to figure out what to do with so many newly freed slaves.
