How many lives can one person live? African American entertainer Josephine Baker left poverty and racism in the United States for the bright lights of 1920’s Paris. She became an international superstar through her provocative and talented dancing as well as her fantastic voice. She went from living the ultimate flapper lifestyle to becoming an undercover spy for the French Resistance in WWII. When she finally returned to her country of birth, she did so as an outspoken activist in the Civil Rights Movement.
