At 120 gigatons of carbon stored in the ground, soil is the largest terrestrial pool of carbon on earth. The Soil Inventory Project is building technology and a database that will help farmers, ranchers and land managers be able to measure the carbon in their land. By helping to measure soil carbon and promoting practices that can help capture more carbon from the atmosphere, TSIP is hoping to be part of the solution for mitigating climate change. Sonali Lamba, Executive Director of TSIP, educates us on how carbon is sequestered into the soil and how she dreams of putting carbon not just on the map but also on all of the future products you buy.
