Good morning! This morning I explore the concept of data ownership and biometric data that is gathered to create inferred knowledge. We are at the point where biometric passive data is being gathered in massive volume. All of this data is being processed by AI and machine learning algorithms. Inside these neural networks, even our best and brightest do not know what is going on inside the "brain" of AI. We just know the outcome is true. To me, this seems to bring us back full circle in the old faith vs science debate. We also are being conned into just giving away our data and, in essence, our souls and personalities to tech behemoths who are making billions from us while we get nothing except the ability to browse social media or play some stupid phone game in exchange. It's time to take back that data ownership, make money from our data if we would like and decide who gets to buy that data. All of this and more is what the folks at Re-Public.io are doing. Make data a common good again. Or in other words make data "Re-Public"!
