In this message, we explore the theme of overcoming fear when making hard decisions. The central scripture, Matthew 14:28-31, recounts Peter's bold step of faith to walk on water towards Jesus. This story illustrates how our focus determines our actions. When we fix our eyes on Jesus, we can accomplish the seemingly impossible. However, the moment we shift our gaze to the storms around us, fear creeps in and we begin to sink. This parallel reminds us that in our daily lives, we too face moments where we must choose between faith and fear. Pastor Mike challenges us to recognize that fear-based decisions are contrary to God's will for our lives. Instead, we're called to step out in trust, even when it feels unsafe. By feeding our faith and starving our fears through prayer and scripture, we can drown our doubts and move forward with confidence. Importantly, we're reminded that even when we falter, Jesus is always within reach, ready to rescue us if we call out to Him.
