Secret Garden design by Deana David.
“Magpie Times” magazine by Deana David.
Deana David was living in Amsterdam and homesick for New England. To offset her fear of never getting back home, she started rug hooking to reminder her of New England. That started what has become a career and full-time business creating rug hooking and punch needle designs, teaching the techniques to others, making the needed tools and materials available so others can create their own textile art, and publishing books and magazines about the art forms. This week’s show is sponsored by the Embroiderers’ Guild of America. In our conversation we learn how Deana moved from hooking in Amsterdam to a thriving business, large and active Facebook group, huge YouTube channel, and weekly live shows. If you want to learn rug hooking or punch needle, Ribbon Candy Hooking is an ideal place to start.–Gary
