Artificial intelligence is evolving at an unprecedented pace—what does that mean for the future of technology, venture capital, business, and even our understanding of ourselves? Award-winning journalist and writer Anil Ananthaswamy joins us for our latest episode to discuss his latest book Why Machines Learn: The Elegant Math Behind Modern AI . Anil helps us explore the journey and many breakthroughs that have propelled machine learning from simple perceptrons to the sophisticated algorithms shaping today’s AI revolution, powering GPT and other models. The discussion aims to demystify some of the underlying math that powers modern machine learning to help everyone grasp this technology impacting our lives, even if your last math class was in high school. Anil walks us through the power of scaling laws, the shift from training to inference optimization, and the debate among AI’s pioneers about the road to AGI—should we be concerned, or are we still missing key pieces of the puzzle? The conversation also delves into AI’s philosophical implications—could understanding how machines learn help us better understand ourselves? And what challenges remain before AI systems can truly operate with agency? If you enjoy this episode, please subscribe and leave us a review on your favorite podcast platform. Daniel has been receiving visions about God’s plan for humankind in the end of the age. In Daniel 9, he receives some defining events which help us understand some big picture sequencing on what is going to take place and things to look for as God unfolds his plan for the end of the age. Daniel’s vision in chapter 8 comes two years after the dream in chapter 7. Much like the dream that precedes this chapter, Daniels’s vision is prophetic, and it contains animals that represent kingdoms and horns that represent kings. In fact, this vision is focused on one particular horn that emanates from one of these animals that demonstrates hostility towards God and his kingdom. While this vision predicted what happened centuries ago for us, it also serves as a mold for what is to come. We must understand that Antiochus is the mold for the coming antichrist, and it is not just in the sound of the name. The post Better appeared first on Foothills Church .…
Today, in Daniel 7, I want to look at a dream Daniel had that has different elements, but they represent the same realities as Nebuchadnezzar’s dream in chapter 2. I want to review these two dreams with you and then overlay a passage from the book of Revelation that adds to it. Each of these visions/dreams when combined begins to give us an overall picture of the events to come at the end of the age, and what we can begin to look for. Coming back to this story of Daniel in the lion’s den as an adult has been a lot of fun because I realized that Daniel’s one night in the lion’s den is the capstone experience to his lifetime of survival in a hostile and dangerous environment. Daniel had spent the entirety of his life as an exile in a foreign land, and through all of it God protected, and guided, and used him in amazing ways. This morning we are going to learn some lessons from Daniel about how we can survive the lions in our lives while we live in an increasingly dangerous and hostile environment. Between chapters four and five, twenty-three years have passed. King Nebby has repented, and shortly after he dies, a series of sons and sons-in-law have taken the throne. After some assassinations, many scholars now recognize Nebuchadnezzar’s grandson Belshazzar is ruling, and Belshazzar likes to party. It is at this party that we get to witness the collision of pride and humility… and we will see who wins. Let’s check it out… The post The Collision of Pride appeared first on Foothills Church .…
Today’s story reminds us that despite appearances; our God is in control and he…and he alone…will bring low even the most high and haughty, he can humble even the most prideful—those who appear to be getting away with living a godless life. Our story starts with another troubling dream experienced by the great Nebuchadnezzar, king of the superpower Babylon. Let’s jump in! So far from Daniel chapter 1 we learned, “Despite Appearances, God is in Control.” In chapter two God made known his great wisdom exceeds all others. And today in our story, he will make known his unmatched power. No other god is like our God. No one saves like our God. No one preserves, protects, and delivers like our God! There are times when it might seem the world is falling apart. You don’t know what tomorrow holds. This is where Daniel was… but God meets him right in his confusion, and God gives Daniel everything he needs to serve His purposes. Take note, believer in Jesus, God gives you everything you need to carry out his calling in your culture. When life’s out of control, hold onto the one that is. Today we start a new series of messages from the book of Daniel. Daniel takes place at a time when the people of Israel are exiled Babylon. And like many of us in these days, they were asking: Where is all this going? When is all this going to end? How will we survive these circumstances? Is God really in control still? Has he lost his ability to manage all this? As we jump into the first chapter of Daniel, we begin to see something very, very important. Daniel makes it plain and simple…despite appearances, God is in control. The post Despite Appearances; God is in Control appeared first on Foothills Church .…
What many people don’t realize is, how we manage our money is one of the most spiritual things about us. It indicates more poignantly than almost any other area of our life, where our trust and dependence lie. Do we trust in our stuff, or do we trust in our Savior? So far we have considered two stewardship reclamations: (1) From idolatry to an exclusive love of God, and (2) From craving what you don’t have to contentment with what God provides. Today, I want to look at a third transformation: From fear of economic times to an exclusive trust in God. The post From Fear To Trust appeared first on Foothills Church .…
Of all the reclamation projects that Jesus leads Christians through, often transforming how we manage our financial resources is perhaps the most difficult transformation we undergo. This week I want us to consider another aspect of the stewardship transformation that needs to occur in you and me if we’re going to be transformed into faithful, godly stewards: From craving what is not possessed to contentment with what God provides. The post From Craving to Contentment appeared first on Foothills Church .…
Stewardship Transformations are some of the most difficult and most important transformations Christians are called to go through. Today, I want to talk about why that is, as well as cover one aspect of this transformation that the Bible addresses; that is, to become a faithful steward each of us needs to transform from idolatry to an exclusive love for God. The post From Idolatry to Exclusive Love for God appeared first on Foothills Church .…
Today, I don’t want to talk about some “resolutions.” I don’t want to talk about some small changes. Instead, I want to look at what God has to say about the complete transformation of a life The post A Reclaimed Identity appeared first on Foothills Church .
The Gospel, most of us know, is the good, great, amazing news that Christ was born, lived perfectly, became the perfect sacrifice to take the penalty of our sins and offers salvation to those who put their faith in them. The cool thing is, that Gospel, engages with our lives uniquely as God meets us in our individual messes and reclaims our lives. He gives us a new direction and focus our lives to share the gospel with all we encounter through word and action. The post The Gospel Reclaiming You appeared first on Foothills Church .…
