Domestic abuse, also referred to as domestic violence, will affect 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men in their lifetime. Government statistics show, that domestic abuse currently leads to 2 women being murdered each week, and 30 men per year. The Office of National Statistics states that around 42% of domestic abuse related incidents and crimes, are not reported by the victims, for various reasons. Many victims start a relationship with their abuser without knowing whether their abuser has a past history of having abused others. We looked at how you can protect yourself from being with a serial abuser, either before you enter in to a relationship, or if you need to try and find out if your partner, or perhaps a member of your family's new partner, has any history of domestic abuse.
