The Handwriting Virtual Awards Ceremony Honours the World's Very First Certified Handwriting Specialist Teachers! All trained by Melanie Harwood, the Founder of Start-Bee Handwriting, the Creator of the Handwriting Assessment Toolkit, the Creator of the Handwriting Assessment Teacher Training eCourse which is online and "live" with deep dives for those that apply. Melanie accepts only 200 teachers from around the world each year and this training is therefore oversubscribed. The main objective is to ensure that the most passionate teachers take part in this training and become Certified Handwriting Specialist Teachers. Moving onwards to the Masters Degree: The History, Science and Psychology of Handwriting and then the PhD to become a Doctor of Handwriting. Harwood is passionate about teaching handwriting and assessing the potential barriers to writing well, with a view to negating any potential barriers that are flagged up as soon as possible. She created and developed the Start-Bee Handwriting Method for her own daughter, Hannah-Jane, and has collaborated with Headteachers, Teachers, Ofsted Inspectors and Leading Researchers to ensure her Handwriting Match Fit Assessment gets to the very nub of each child's Handwriting Attainment at that specific point in time and provides a Personal Handwriting Strategy for the next year. She feels strongly that no child should leave primary/elementary school at the age of 11, functionally iliterate! All children should write well, fluently, legibly and above all, confidently.
