Episode Summary:

It's time to get out of our Christian comfort zones because complacency gets us nowhere. Sinfulness abounds all around us, and our freedom of conscience is under threat. Our government is turning on us, and tolerance of sin is expected from those of us who choose to walk the path of righteousness with God.

In today's culture, God is openly mocked, and Christians are labeled as haters if we refuse to bow to society’s new cultural sin mandates. But we need to stop, drop, and roll back to God in prayer. How much time do you really spend praying to God? At Liberty Christian Fellowship, God is raising up leaders who will stand in the gap—people who take God seriously and dedicate time to being in His presence and prayer.

As we witness the decline of culture, government, and society, we can pray like Nehemiah prayed in Nehemiah chapter one. Nehemiah wept, fasted, and prayed for his disgraced brethren, confessing the sins of the Israelites as well as his own. In verse 7, he said to the Lord, "We have acted very wickedly toward you. We have not obeyed the commands, decrees, and laws you gave your servant Moses."

Nehemiah didn't blame others or have a pity party. Instead, he went straight to the Lord in prayer. There are many Nehemiahs out there—tired, disgusted, frustrated, and heartbroken. But as I said, complacency gets us nowhere. When was the last time you fasted for the sins of this country? When was the last time you wept for our nation? When was the last time you prayed earnestly for our country? Together, let's commit to faithfully obeying God and praying daily.

We are called to be doers of God's word. James 1:22 says, "Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says." Nehemiah humbled himself before God, praised Him, acknowledged His glory and majesty, confessed his sins and the sins of others, and depended entirely on God. He fasted and prayed for a long time. First Thessalonians 5:17 urges us to "pray without ceasing." Continuous prayer should not be seen as a chore, but rather as a heartfelt commitment.

Let us prepare our hearts so the Spirit of God will move us to pray throughout the day and every day for a restored America and restored families. Pray that God will give us the strength to do the great things He wants His disciples to do, and watch the many blessings He has in store for His Nehemiahs. We welcome you to our church each Sunday morning at 10 a.m. to hear the line-by-line Bible sermons by Pastor Earl Wallace, who often reminds us to stop, drop, and roll back to God. Please pray for us so we can use God's favor to open doors for teaching in public schools.
