Today let's talk about toddler nap transitions. Are you trying to figure out if your toddler is ready to drop their nap?

So, when are toddlers ready to drop a nap? I find usually kids are ready to drop their afternoon nap between 3 and 5 years old. All too often, I see families try to drop this nap too soon to improve bedtime which actually may be causing problems at night!

I am going to share a story about a recent client who reached out after going down the path of eliminating the afternoon nap too soon only to find it exacerbated their bedtime issues.

Why does dropping the nap too soon make things worse? Because sleep begets sleep.

Meaning, when kids are well-rested it’s easier for them to fall asleep.

So, how do you know when it’s finally time to drop the nap. Let me show you 3 ways to know for sure and why preserving the afternoon nap as long as possible will actually encourage your child to sleep better at night.
