DEVOTION
Based on Psalm 36
In tonight’s psalm, David contrasts the wickedness and brokenness of humanity with the goodness and holiness of our Lord. Even if the world seems to be a dark place, we can always find comfort in the light of the Lord. His light can extinguish the darkness that surrounds us, bringing joy, hope, and peace to our hearts.
As you focus your thoughts on God, take a deep breath and slow down your mind. Allow your spirit to align with His presence as you remember who He is the holy, righ­teous One who knows you, loves you, and saves you. Listen for His voice and meditate on His faithfulness.
A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION:
Take a moment now to exalt and praise the Lord for His goodness. Worship Him for His holy presence in your life. Devote your life once again to the One who gives light and life in a dark and fallen world. His loving-kindness is endless; His compassion is great.
CONFESSION:
Think of a time when you did not reject what was wrong and followed the crowd. Ask for God's forgiveness for not looking to Him first and foremost. Ask Him to give you the courage to stand for what is right and trust in His ways.
THANKSGIVING:
Praise the Lord for His goodness, faithfulness, and justice. Praise Him for His unfailing love. Thank Him for His provision in your life.
SUPPLICATION:
Lord, there is so much injustice all around. I pray that Your justice will prevail in every difficult situation. Please intervene in unfair situations in my life. Help me turn to Your power and strength when confronted by malice or deception. You are my strong tower. I place my hope and trust in You as I close this day in Your loving presence. All glory be to You. Amen.
PRAYER
“Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, The Lord, my rock, and my redeemer.”

Mighty God, Your greatness is beyond comprehension, and Your glory fills the earth. The rushing waters carve out their course according to Your will. The winds shift and sail on the path You’ve set out for them. The beasts of the earth and birds of the air thrive under the laws of nature You have written. Your Word is perfect, and Your will is trustworthy. I know the closer I am to You, the better off I am. But still, my heart tends to stray, and my mind will wander. Bring me continually to a place of awe and reverence. I want the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart to please You. I steady my breath tonight. As my chest rises and falls with each sigh, fill me with comfort that You are in control and by my side. I want my heartbeat marching in lockstep with Your will for all my days and nights. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
