Ep 17 Book Review of The Conscious Closet: The Revolutionary Guide to Looking Good While Doing Good
Manage episode 278755957 series 2364856
Hello, hello! How is everyone doing? I won’t lie, it’s been a fucking time since my last episode. I recorded this in August (the only way that I know that is because I say it in the episode), said “great, I’ll edit that later”, then three months went by, and then I finally pulled it back up in my computer and actually edited it. And now we’re here!
As you can tell by the title, this is a bit different from my usual interview format; I am hoping to get back to interviews, but first I have to figure out how to conduct them remotely. And in the meantime, I’m bringing you fashion- and clothing-related book reviews! I’m hoping to make this a semi-regular process, to challenge myself a bit creatively, and also create some accountability with keeping up with my reading list.
In this episode I give an overall synopsis, as well as personal take, on the second novel by Elizabeth Cline: The Conscious Closet: The Revolutionary Guide to Looking Good While Doing. If you haven’t read her first novel, Overdressed: The Shockingly High Cost of Cheap Fashion, don’t worry, it’s not necessary, but is helpful. This book does build on the first, but where Overdressed looked at the overall (fast) fashion industry, The Conscious Closet is much more about the personal and individual, and how you can tailor your wardrobe to be more eco-conscious and sustainable.
