EPISODE 6 -
In this episode of Living My Side Hustle, Jen and Dave look back at how the global pandemic has made employees and employers rethink their work life. The Great Resignation is a term being thrown around as people make tough decisions on what their future work life looks like going forward.
There are a number of reasons people are seeking a change, in what some economists have dubbed the Great Resignation. For some workers, the pandemic precipitated a shift in priorities, encouraging them to pursue a dream job, or transition to being a stay-at-home parent. But for many, many others, the decision to leave came as a result of the way their employer treated them during the pandemic.
The terms essential and non-essential sure had a huge impact on what one would consider "secure jobs" - to be a barber or hair stylist, s server in a restaurant, an actor on stage, a musician, bar owner, travel advisor, wedding planner - all deemed "non-essential" and out of work. Essential - Doctor, First Responder and Grocery Clerk? The Great Resignation has included employees and business owners that had to pivot and reinvent themselves, some of which will no longer return to the positions held prior to the pandemic - where do you fit in all this?
