She has gained international recognition for her blend of techno, house and electro as well as her high energetic sets. She began her journey into the world of music in 2009 when she first learned to beat match while living in Korea. After taking a break from DJing to attend college, she eventually returned to the scene and relocated to Berlin where she made a huge splash with the release of her “Art of War EP” on Radio Slave’s Rekids imprint. In this limited run series, I will be exploring the pioneers that have shaped and influenced the EDM we have today. In this episode I will be featuring Darude. From a young age, Darude was passionate about music and experimented with different genres and styles. During the 90s, he shifted his focus to EDM becoming a DJ and Producer creating his own tracks. In 1999, his track “Sandstorm” was released to the world quickly becoming a global sensation. Take a listen to it here. Due to its infectious melody “Sandstorm” was a representation of the evolving trance sound; that had a mainstream appeal. The popularity of this track also coincided with the growing power of the internet at the time.
