Beach Warriors, buckle up for a wild ride along the New York coastline! Mother Nature's serving up some serious attitude today with high rip current risks from Coney Island to the Hamptons.
Listen up, surfers and beach lovers - today is NOT your day to test the ocean's mood. We're looking at a gnarly surf situation with waves around 3 to 4 feet and east winds howling between 15 and 20 miles per hour. The water's running in the upper 60s, and the sky's sporting a cloudy gray ensemble with a side of potential rain.
Rip currents are no joke right now. These underwater escape artists are out in full force, and they're not playing nice. The National Weather Service is screaming HIGH RIP CURRENT RISK until 6 PM. Translation: stay out of the water unless you've got a death wish or Olympic-level swimming skills.
Beach temps are hovering in the upper 60s, so forget about working on that tan. UV index is low, clouds are blocking any hope of serious sunshine. Your best bet? Grab a hot coffee, watch the waves from a safe distance, and live to surf another day.
Low tide is hitting different spots between 11:53 AM and 12:07 PM - Jones Inlet, Fire Island, Shinnecock - each with its own maritime drama. Sunrise was early, sunset's coming around 6:36 PM, giving you plenty of daylight to admire the ocean's fierce mood.
Pro tip: If you somehow find yourself caught in a rip current, don't panic. Float, relax, and signal for help. Swim parallel to the shore, not against the current.
Stay safe, respect the ocean, and live to ride another wave!
