*UPDATE* Since recording this incredible interview in 2020, Lacey and Jim have married and welcomed their second beautiful son, Parker. They've also purchased their first home and are both working hard and enjoying life today. Lacey works in patient access at the Cancer Center at St. James Healthcare and Jim is a union carpenter for Kissock Construction. These may all sound like somewhat normal, run of the mill adulting milestones but for reasons you'll hear in this episode, Lacey and her family are extra grateful to be where they are today.
In this episode, Lacey openly shares her journey from active addiction to stable recovery. While still actively using, she discovered she was pregnant and made the extremely difficult decision to seek support in order to keep her son and get clean. Having lost her own mother to alcoholism and, ultimately, suicide at the age of 14, Lacey was faced with breaking the cycle of addiction that had claimed those closest to her. Her father still struggles with addiction today. Lacey speaks with humility, courage and unmistakable love as she describes how her son brought she and her partner (now fiance!), James, back from the darkness they’d become so accustomed to. You won’t want to miss this one.
