On this episode of Music of the Mat, Andrew is joined again by Chris Samsa (Voices of Wrestling, Sport of Pro Wrestling) to discuss the themes of "The Wrestler" Katsuyori Shibata. As one of the "New Three Musketeers" alongside Hiroshi Tanahashi and Shinsuke Nakamura, Shibata's wrestling career was no easy path. After leaving New Japan during desperate times in 2005, Shibata returned to the company in 2012, spending years fighting his way to a contract and the respect of his peers, before a serious brain injury after the greatest and most important match of his life in 2017 took him out of action. Andrew and Chris discuss Shibata's scant selection of themes (including a few that are quite humorous in context), his dangerous, albeit badass wrestling style, seeing him live at Forbidden Door in Chicago, and more!
