I’m excited today, as we welcome as we have a double header of guests! Firstly we have Grammy Award-nominated DJ/Producer Todd Terry has been engulfed in dance music since he first started listening to European dance music records while growing up in Brooklyn. In the mid 90’s, the Ministry of Sound’s eponymous UK label released A Day In The Life, a collection of Todd Terry tracks that had been causing dance floor panic. That then led the way to a deal with Mercury Records allowing him to set up a context in which to work with his favourite singers and performers. The first release, Keep On Jumpin’ on featured a vocal workout from super-divas Martha Wash and Jocelyn Brown, together for the first time ever. The song became a top 10 UK crossover pop hit and a worldwide smash. Secondly, my good friend Mr Steve Mac, is an English house music producer and DJ who is half of Rhythm Masters but also had a few alias including These Machines and under his own name. And it's as Rhythm Masters when I first learnt about Steve remixed Keep On Jumpin’ - which to this is one of my favourite all time remixes and one of the first records i ever brought. I then became friends with Steve whilst working at Turnmills and Rhythm Masters and Steve have been part of Data Transmission birthday celebrations across 8th, 9th, 10th, and now in our 15th month… Flash forward a quarter of a century and last month, Todd’s freeze records released a mighty mash-up of two Todd’s classics, ‘Jumpin’ and ‘Keep On Jumpin’, courtesy of Steve Mac, who has been tearing up dance floors with this potent secret weapon. If you want to release on the biggest labels and DJ for the biggest brands, this podcast will give you a wealth of insights into how to do just that!
