Manage episode 387952958 series 2963509
Lynyrd Skynyrd is one of America's southern rock sweethearts. Anthems like "Sweet Home Alabama" and "Free Bird" cement their place in rock n roll history. But a gruesome fate would befall the band when the plane they were charting during their tour in 1977 would claim the lives of their lead singer Ronnie Van Zant, and others in the swamplands of Mississippi. Today, we talk about their rise to fame and what caused the horrific plane crash, plus the aftermath.
