Report from Good Trouble at New Brackett Church
Manage episode 455682341 series 3624582
This is a report from 'Good Trouble' on Saturday March 25th as Peaks Islanders commemorated the 58th anniversary of the end of the 1965 Selma to Montgomery March for Voting Rights and to protest the treatment and killing of civil rights activists. Islander Nicole D'Entremont participated in the '65 March and presented on her experience of the movement. The presentation is part of an effort to raise funds for a Foot Soldiers Park and Education Center in Selma Alabama, spearheaded by long-time Civil Rights activist Joanne Bland, who marched in Selma as an 11 year old child. The Peaks event raised over $2500 for the effort.
