According to the American Psychological Association's press release on September 21, 2023, faculty of color face significant obstacles to promotion, tenure, and retention. Some of the issues they confront include cultural taxation, invisible labor, lack of mentors, and different value systems of achievement. Despite these challenges, faculty of color continue to operate within the current academic climate. If we are truly committed to serving all people through our work, it is essential to listen to the needs of faculty of color and other marginalized groups.

We speak with Dr. Fiorella Carlos Chavez, who will be sharing her academic journey and offer tips on how she has navigated the academic environment.
