In this latest OIES podcast James Henderson talks to Bill Farren-Price, Anouk Honoré and Jack Sharples about the key themes in the latest OIES Gas Quarterly, that was published in late July. After a brief overview on current gas prices, the discussion turns to LNG supply and specifically to the impact of sanctions on Russian LNG exports. The podcast then considers demand for LNG, looking at the flows to the major import markets in Europe and Asia and analysing the rebound in demand in Asia that has dragged supplies to the East. Supply to Europe continues to be made up of indigenous supply and pipeline imports as well as LNG, and the discussion covers all these topics before looking at the main trends in European gas demand in the key power, industrial and residential sectors. The discussants then consider the outlook for gas markets in the coming winter and into 2025, and also look at potential major events that could cause significant disruptions and drive prices up or down sharply.
