Mariela Poleo, current manager and president of the Simon Bolivar Foundation, the non profit organization of Citgo Petroleum Corporation, shares how she pivoted and adapted during her extensive career in the oil industry, serving in global roles in Equinor (Previously Statoil), including Head of Finance and Control for Exploration North America and development and Production Offshore USA.
During this interview Mariela provides great insight on how to pivot and adapt. The discussion is full of insights that can be extremely useful in the current climate of nonstop volatility, uncertainty, complexity, and ambiguity. She shared how pivots caused by taking global assignments was made easier through open communication with her husband. The key to understanding you role in your personal relationships, allows adapting to a pivot to go smoother. Mariela touched on living, parenting and working on three continents and the cultural differences.
Mariela shared how she is using governance, transparency, collaboration to meet the humanitarian needs of Venezuelans and Venezuelan refugees at the Simon Bolivar Foundation.
