Why is there is a lack of critical depth in mainstream media? And Why are Alternative Viewpoints rarely considered in news coverage? (unless there is a motive to ridicule them). When addressing such questions, one soon discovers that the answers lie in the fact that media manipulation is ultimately connected to the power of the dominant elites, who use the mass media and news journalism in particular, to maintain their dominant position in society.

To explain these arguments in further detail, this installment will explore a concept in Western philosophy known as the Hegelian Dialectic. The term dialectic is a method of reasoning which is rooted in the practice of dialogue between two individuals, each of whom holds different viewpoints, but wish to establish the truth through reasoned argument. For instance, although scientific methodology is backed by empirical data, Science cannot explain all occurrences in everyday life, hence the Hegelian Dialectic is offered as an alternative method to make sense of complex subject matter.

The Hegelian Dialectic originates from the German philosopher Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel who is associated with the period of philosophy known as German Idealism. Hegel’s views provide an insight into various powerful, external forces which control our lives such as corporations and governments. Key questions to consider are; Where do our lives fit into the world around us? and the events which impact us? Are we governed by random events? or are we being manipulated according to a set plan?

Hegel’s dialectic consists of three stages of development or interchanges. They are as follows: A thesis which gives rise to a reaction ; An antithesis then contradicts or negates the thesis ; And the ensuing tension between the two is resolved by the means of synthesis.

Overall, the real key to the Dialectic, are the creation of opposing forces because they trigger real-time reactions on complex issues such as―terrorism, the war on drugs, the war on terror, religious threats, public health threats, to name but a few. Hence, given that these issues conform to the Dialectic; Where do they lead us? And What exactly do we learn from it? And are there long term consequences of the Synthesis? such as social or economic upheaval? more state control? Or perhaps an erosion of civil liberties. In this installment, I examine a similar manipulation technique, referred to by British author and researcher David Icke, as “Problem – Reaction – Solution” or (PRS). This paradigm also stems from the philosophical approach of Hegel's Dialectic consisting of an interchange of the three stages of development, going from Thesis to Antithesis and reverting back again to Synthesis.

I explain how the Hegelian Dialectic works by reviewing some real life examples from contemporary history, such as the aftermath of the 9/11 events, Weapons of Mass Destruction and many infamous “False Flag” operations. Consequently, these notable examples resulted in actions or legislation that would never have passed under normal circumstances, based on fear, chaos and disorder. Using this approach I draw parallels with recent, major cataclysmic events such as the Coronavirus and COVID-19 mandates, which appear to invoke the familiar blueprint of the “Problem-Reaction- Solution model.”
