In this episode we will discuss current advances of US development academies, their challenges, and the potential for opening paths for professionalism for future academy players. Larry Sunderland has been recognized as a top coach and a visionary advancing the sport of football and player development in the United States. Sunderland led the development of the first fully integrated professional soccer model in the United States. He has also implemented and directed the execution of the most extensive player development system in Major League Soccer. Sunderland is the current Portland Timbers Youth Technical Director. He also served as Technical Director of the Chicago Fire PDL program, Super-20s and Fire Juniors youth club. He has been instrumental in the development of more than 50 professional players.
