Manage episode 390346200 series 2797486
In This Episode:
Well after two episodes and about 4 hours, one thing is clear. The guys have become huge fans of Gordon DeWitt. In his second round, Gordon leaves it all on the floor and the result is a master class of real faith in really hard times. After some initial shenanigans and some less-than-manly confessions on Mike's part, the guys get into some powerful truths like:
- The power of words like "I get it"
- The Ministry of presence and helping others through the "unimaginable"
- The tendency to get in our own way
- The need to live the lesson
- Being quick to apologize
- Remembering that God is love and that His love is big enough for everything that we feel and experience
- Looking back on our graveyard of Goliaths
- Choices to be better or be bitter
To Mr. DeWitt, you can come back by the RMIT any time you want. Thanks to you and your family for the good that you do. It matters, maybe more than you will ever know. Keep going!

Quotes...
- “Men and women who turn their lives over to God will discover that He can make a lot more out of their lives than they can. He can deepen their joys, expand their vision, quicken their minds, strengthen their muscles, lift their spirits, multiply their blessings, increase their opportunities, comfort their souls, and pour out peace.” -Ezra Taft Benson
- "Scrooge was better than his word. He did it all, and infinitely more...He became as good a friend, as good a master, and as good a man, as the good old city knew, or any other good old city, town, or borough, in the good old world...and it was always said of him, that he knew how to keep Christmas well." -Closing lines of A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens
- “To love someone long-term is to attend a thousand funerals of the people they used to be. The people they’re too exhausted to be any longer. The people they don’t recognize inside themselves anymore. The people they grew out of, the people they never ended up growing into. We so badly want the people we love to get their spark back when it burns out; to become speedily found when they are lost. But it is not our job to hold anyone accountable to the people they used to be. It is our job to travel with them between each version and to honor what emerges along the way." -Heidi Priebe
