We all have trauma (some more than others). Most people experience their trauma in the first 8 years of life. There’s no shame in it, because it’s something everyone experiences throughout the course of their life! In today’s episode, RN Psychotherapist & Author of Real Beautiful: The Secret Energy of The Mind, Body, and Spirit, Cindy Heath, breaks down ways we can heal from our trauma to move forward and live the life we were born to live!

Key Takeaways:

  • Organically Follow Your Passions: Cindy’s journey from nursing to teaching, yoga, and authorship highlights the importance of pursuing passions to shape your career.
Kundalini Yoga: This practice helps release trauma and emotions by opening energy channels in the body.
Dealing with Grief and Loss: I shared my experience of losing a close friend and received additional support from Cindy on coping with grief.
Self-Truth Tune In: Cindy encourages addressing shame and childhood trauma while aligning with your core values to promote healing.
Workplace Trauma: Our backgrounds can attract toxic environments, but we have the power to choose healthier spaces.
Consciously Living Your Core Values: Avoiding generational trauma is crucial for parenting, as beliefs like “money doesn’t grow on trees” can deeply impact children.

Cindy also shares a special breathing exercise with us! Be sure to find a comfy place to practice this with us.

Next Steps:

  • Explore these questions for yourself to make a game plan for healing your trauma and designing a life you can thrive in:
    • What unseen forces might be guiding me? A layoff? An unplanned move? A divorce? A business challenge?
    • What tools might I explore to release my trauma? Ex. Would Kundalini yoga be a good fit for you? Something else?
    • Are there events in my first 8 years of life that I haven’t dealt with? How would I like to address that going forward? Are there values I’ve taken on from these early years that no longer fit?
    • Am I experiencing workplace trauma? What options do I have in this season of life? What next steps do I want to take that will empower me?
    • What did I learn from the breathing exercise Cindy shared? Journal your thoughts and emotions that surfaced.
